How do I keep strangers from adding me as a friend?

So I have suddenly been receiving notices that people I do not know have added me as a friend on Xbox One. They all seem to have a gamer score of zero and upon viewing their activity feed they appear to be friending a massive amount of people (in alphabetical
order) so I'm assuming they are up to no good. They send me messages and I block them but then a new person adds me and sends another message. It is getting annoying. Is there a way for people to search for gamer tags without having the entire name? (i.e.
type in the letter "a" hit enter and a page full of gamer tags starting with "a" show up) Ultimately I would like to make my gamer tag and entire profile private so that no one can add me without my permission or I simply add them. I have looked through the
privacy settings but I can only find options for activity feeds, profile/bio, and such, nothing specifying whether or not your entire account including gamer tag is private. So my question summed up: Is it possible to prevent people you don't know from adding
you as a friend?

chatting with strangers

Can a child user chat with strangers on Xbox One if a parent hasn't allowed her to connect with them as friends through the console? If so, how? I want to keep my daughter from chatting for her safety.

Help ban this gamer

Parents have a responsibility to protect their children and in order to do that, a parent has to understand the privacy settings that will keep random strangers from being able to have contact and harass their child. Failure to take the time to understand
how to do this is being naive and aloof....not good parenting traits.

There is no way to make your GT completely unsearchable or private. If you do not add these users back and you've made your feed/profile/bio private they will not have access to it. You can also block these users who try to friend request you.

Thanks for the response, much appreciated. I guess I will just keep blocking them and ignoring their messages. Hopefully they'll just give up at some point.

Are the leaderboards really that big of a deal? Just keep it set to your friends. Who cares how far a complete stranger hs traveled on a minecart.

That is why I don't get into vehicles when not playing with friends. If I do I speed away from the deployment area and keep moving. Also, never get into vehicles with strangers. Just like your parents told you not to take candy
from strangers or car rides. Heck, I don't get in vehicles with some of my friends. Some of them are terrible helo pilots, but they won't listen to anyone telling them that.
