how do I get to multiplayer (split screen) mode on Rocket League?

If you're looking to sign into another account while signed into yours you would only need to follow the same steps that you did when you signed into your account, but with a different controller.

If you have to sync your controller we have available articles for doing so in case you're unaware on how to
do so or just in case it's needed.

So connect a second controller, and then sign into a different account through the sign in or account tab within the guide menu, and if not presented with such an option, simply choose switch profile.

Try this and let us know if you get a second controller with an account signed in setup.

Ok, How do I get both controllers logged in on the Xbox one at the same time. This may be my issue because it appears they won't login together.

Make sure a second controller is turned on and that player is signed in with his/her gamertag. Once this is done, go into Rocket League and, in the main menu, have the second player press his menu button. A player 2 car should show up and you can go from
there into playing the game.

It says there "Signing into a guest account allows players to play offline modes together, but they cannot play against other players online." and since you mentioned a guest account that may be something to check.

It would probably make sense to create a child account rather than using a guest account anyways.

There are a lot of games with single player experiences and games that allow Split-Screen local multiplayer without a need for a Gold subscription.

According to the store page, Rocket League should have a local Split Screen option, that doesn't require a Gold membership.

Make sure you or your kid chooses a game mode that allows local split screen play. That way you won't need a Gold membership.

However, if your grandchild wants to play online against multiple other players, a Gold membership is necessary.
