How do I get rid of my old gamer tag?

I bought a new gamer tag but it keeps showing my old one while my new one is under it. Yes i removed my account and added it back to my console and restarted my console so many times. None of this is working so what do i do now?

When did you update your gamertag, it can take a few days to update sometimes. Also is your old gamer tag only showing up on your Xbox profile or is it across all of your Microsoft devices?

Where the changegamertag is just type in your new gamertag to ensure it shows up correctly.

"If your gamertag uses non-Latin-based characters, your previous gamertag will continue to appear for older, classic experiences, such as some games and Xbox websites, while your new gamertag will appear on modern experiences, such as your Xbox console and the Xbox apps for PC and mobile."

Hi and thanks. The only issue with this is it only deletes it from my console but doesn't completely get rid of it. I therefore still can't get to attach my email to my old gamer tag.

Thanks, I appreciate you getting back to me but that isn’t helping.

Maybe I’m not explaining this right.

I restarted my console this morning when I signed back in I didn’t read things correctly and used my email and password to sign in and then started with a new gamer tag with the same email as my old gamer tag.

Now when I sign in it’s my new gamer tag that pops up. I tried deleting the new tag off my console and resigning in but again the new gamer tag pops up.

There is no option to look for tags associated with the same email???

All my purchased games and game pass is associated with my old gamer tag. How do I get my old gamer tag back with this email and onto my console???

This post is by our new gamer tag which we want to get rid of and keep our original one with all our data but it just continues to log us in with this new gamer tag and the old one seems to be lost apart from on the Xbox one.
