How do I get my modem to connect to my xbox

Kindly perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware by following the steps below:

1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the modem for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

Hi, are you connecting to one of the Thomson gateway 4 port modem/routers???

If so, the easiest way to fix your connection issue is to turn the modem off for between 30 seconds and a minute and then turning it back on. I use Telstra for my internet connection and that is how I manage to get my xbox to connect to xbox live via the
wireless network.

I can connect to my wireless network and i can connect with my router via ethernet. But the thing is that my router doesn't have a gigabit port so i get low download speeds. I want to connect my xbox directly with my modem in which my optical fiber is connected.
My modem/ONU connects to my router. I want to connect to my modem directly as it has a gigabit port. If i am using a computer i can connect directly to my modem via ethernet by usind Dial Up and entering my username and password. But Xbox doesnt have dial
up so i dont know what to do. Anyways thank you for taking your time to reply.

My modem is a Windstream Eithernet ADSL modem. I could not find anything else like a model number.

I disabled UPnP and got the nat error message when I do a test. But when it is enabled I don't get the message, yet I still have problems connecting to some of my games.

My modem is connected to my router via a Ethernet cable but no my Xbox is does not have any wires connecting it to the modem or router.

I updated my firmware today actually and it seems to of not made a difference.

I took my xbox and connected which cable straight to the modem, I fired up my xbox was able to do download connected to Xbox Live. I turn my xbox off disconnected from the modem I turned my xbox back on and was able to connect wireless to Xbox Live.......
