How do I get my games to install on the Xbox app?

Hi,

I resubbed to the gamepass for PC a few days ago to play Dark Tide.

I load up the Xbox app, choose the game and click install. It asks me to choose either C or D drive. It then hangs on 'Preparing 0%' in the installation queue until it comes up with an error. I am forced to cancel the download/installation.

I choose the other drive. Same thing occurs. Cancel Installation.

I repair the Xbox app and try again. No change.

I reset the Xbox app and try again. No change.

I uninstall the Xbox app and redownload and install, No change.

I restart my device multiple times. No change.

I try installing the game through the Microsoft Store instead. No change.

I try installing Sea of Thieves through the Xbox app. It actually downloads and installs.

I try installing Lies of P through the Xbox app. It has the same error as Dark Tide. It does not install.

I search for the problem online. Microsoft forums lead me to using regedit. I try that, no change.

Microsoft forums leads me to entering some commands via PowerShell, run as admin. The commands don't appear to work, something along the lines of '= is not recognised as a command' or something like that.

Why is this so difficult to fix? Why can't I just download theses games and play them? I am currently paying for a gamepass subscription that doesn't do anything.

Unfortunately, I don't have any further troubleshooting to offer. There are many knowledgeable users active on the forum and I hope that someone else can offer further insight on your issue.

I did actually reset windows 5 months ago. I've only installed the bare minimum since then, basically just steam, epic games, spotify, etc since then.

And xbox games. Which had trouble installing/downloading games even five months ago.

My copy of windows is legit and activated.

I actually had dark tide installed and working late last year when it first released. It just refuses to download now. This is after the PC refresh/reset.

I would say check to see if the DLC has been downloaded and installed on the Xbox under My Games & Apps. To do this, check out the Find
your games and add-ons on Xbox One support page.
