How do I get Developer mode working from the settings on my Xbox One S?

defaults will not take it out of developer mode, but you can get it back there if you'd wish to do so, so no worries!

The Developer Mode Activation App FAQ support page can give you the direct information necessary to get
the console back into retail mode in no time. Give the section titled "I sold my Xbox One and left it
in Developer mode. How do I deactivate Developer mode? " a try and the console should restart into retail mode.

Hmmm, well. I have a 4K set that supports HDR and I'm running my gaming in that mode with an Xbox One S. That's how I roll.

Could your console be in developer mode? If it looks like it does Here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/xbox-apps/devkit-activation then
it's in Dev Mode.

Developer mode is not a hack or illegal modification and the console can be set back to retail mode following the above guide.

Note:

If your console is in developer mode, Xbox One and BC 360 games won't work. If they are working, then it means this machine may well have been modified to run illegal software. To be honest, I'm not sure if the security features of the Xbox One have actually
been broken yet.

If you are concerned your console is not how it should be, DO NOT use the console. Return it to where you purchased it.
