How do I get better at Call of Duty?

I'm okay, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on getting better.

How do I get better at aiming?

Most people who are new to FPS's make the mistake of aiming only with their right thumbstick. Good and fast aim comes from coordinating your movement to assist in aiming. Need to aim to the left a little? Walk to the left instead of aiming to the left.
Pretty basic stuff, but if your new to fps's you might not think about it. I see a lot of people who stop dead when they see someone, aim, then start shooting. Combining this into one fluid motion will help your accuracy and speed in aiming.

Thank you ALL for taking the time to help me out with this problem that I have had since Bc2, One thing for sure its not just one thing its a bunch of things or scenarios, some that I have control of, an some that I dont, maybe I should just give up the
fact that my k/d will never go par an I should just, enjoy the good times I have becuase at least I still have that. I will take all of these suggestions an try them out for sure, again thanks..

 

There isn't really much to Call of Duty, there are no tips or tricks can make anyone better. However the game is pretty much point a shoot, so improve your reflexes by practicing against friends or "Bots" and you will be on your way.

 

Best advise... practice.

1) Just keep play persistence pays off long-term

2) Try different guns - testing out different guns helps you find which one is good for you and you gaming style

You will have your good days and bad, but don't let that discourage you. Keep gaming.

 

I think Buzza is right. Playing quite often will help to improve your skills as will finding the class that fits your playstyle. Depending on your reflexes, playstyle, and Internet connection, you may find certain setups work better than others.

Also, I would suggest studying the maps and trying to play with other people. You will see that better players tend to know the maps and call-outs for those maps. By playing often, you will learn trends on maps as well as routes that may be wiser to take.
Also, when you learn where other players are likely to be and where they will be looking, it will be easier to avoid their crosshairs.

One strategy that I started using awhile back (more as a joke but it ended up working) is to do laps around the outside of the map. Not 100% on the edge, but try to avoid being a sitting duck in the middle of the map. Just try to have fun and keep playing!
You will get better with time.

My k/d started at about 0.54 right away. Now it's somewhere around 1.5 (though I haven't played Ghosts for along time - it's higher on Titanfall, though the games are a little different).

 

Trying to get into this game but Titanfall allows the vertical element. I'm not a fan of kill streaks.

Play in a full party, or practice.

 

Just keep playing. That's the only way to get better. Some people (like myself) it just takes longer.

 

For me personally, I usually look up some tips and tricks. There's spots on every map that give you a bit of an advantage and upper-hand. A lot of the MLG guys say that it's mainly reaction time, and map knowledge.

I wasn't very good when I first started out playing competitive multi-player FPS. I started out late with Halo-3 till I got fed up with shooting someone with 2 full clips till I died and transition to Call of Duty: modern warfare. Practice do make perfect!

1st- work on your reaction time because precious seconds do count. The faster you can accurately hit your target the more kills you stack to your K/D ratio.

2nd - Learn and know the maps. Each map may yield an advantage point but there’s always a way to counter a camper. (i/e grenades, flanking, or noob tube.)

3rd – Play with or find friends that enjoy playing FPS. A team that works together wins games plus it’s nice to know someone that has a wealth of knowledge to show you the ropes.

4th – Repetition/Practice.

When I first started out playing CoD I was at a sad 1.17 KD with a W/L ratio of 1.0, now after many years of playing in this franchise I’m holding a pretty good record for myself and can hold on my own. Made many friends who I party up with to play HCTDM
with MW3 having the best stats.

Winning percentage at 85% with a K/D of 2.0

CoD ghost: respectable KD 1.66 with a 3.0 win to loss ratio. Granite, I hate the fact at being at the mercy of somebody else’s internet connection.
