External Hard Drive for xbox one

An external drive can only be used with the Xbox One. You will be forced to format the entire drive for that use. No partitioning is allowed.

  3. External Hard Drives: De-Formatting From Xbox One

I am going to tell you how to remove the formatting on a External Hard Drive from a Xbox One.

    Requirements:

    Xbox 360

    1. Insert external hard drive into Xbox 360

    2. Go into System

    3. Go into Storage

    4. Press 'Y' on External Hard Drive (Will be called "unformatted device")

    5. Click on Format

    6. The External Hard Drive will now contain the Xbox 360's formatting.

    7. If you do not want the Xbox 360's formatting on the External Hard Drive, all you need to do is format the External Hard Drive on a computer. Otherwise, if you don't care that the Xbox 360's formatting is on the External Hard Drive, then ignore this step.

Hope This Helped Anyone Who Did Not Know How To Remove An Xbox One's Formatting From An External Hard Drive!

3TB hard drive for media won't format

    Hello,

Captain WD is correct : the 360 will only take an external hard drive up to 2 TB. The xbox One can take larger like a 4 TB. I would say the drive is too large to use. Though the system used to accept larger drives and use what it wanted. Now it doesn't.

    XBOX says:

'You can use other USB flash drives to store up to 2 TB of content. Configure these flash drives as memory units to work with the Xbox 360. To learn more -

    support.xbox.com/.../usb-flash-drive-faq
    '

With the new settings on the 360 you can format the drive on a computer then use it on the console. The question is does the console recognise the drive? Try formatting it on a computer first then connect it. If possible format it to a 2TB size (shame
I know) then try again or get another drive.

    Good luck & happy gaming

    Xbox 360 slim corrupting files?

    Hi,

Simple answer, your hard drive is failing. Fix? Buy a new hard drive or use an external hard drive. The Xbox 360 supports external hard drives up to 2 TB.

Hard drives die and before they do, they generally exhibit, disk read errors, corrupted files none working games. Hard disk drives are mechanical with moving parts, its it not if they fail its a matter of when.
