How do i fix not being able to open games off of gamepass

Hi, I got gamepass about a week ago and i wanted to try out Insurgency: Sandstorm. I downloaded both games, but am met with a frowny face next to a greyed out "play button" When I click on play for either game, it tries opening it, but i am met with "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005) Click ok to close the application." I am also met with "Game client encountered an application error. Error code 1" on easy anti cheat. I have been troubleshooting for awhile and nothing has worked. I've run many commands to check if my i have any currupt files and nothing has come up. I checked if my ram was corrupt, nothing. I even went as far as to factory reset my pc to try and fix the issue, but it didn't work. Another thing is that i cannot delete either game off of gamepass or the microsoft store. I have to go into my settings and delete it from there. I have a feeling that the issue has to do with easy anti cheat since both games use it, and other games that don't are able to be opened. Please help

However, before that, I would like to ask some questions:

Is this happening with more games, or is just Insurgency: Sandstorm and the other you mention?

Are you running Windows 10 or 11?

Meanwhile, please check if your system and all the apps related to gaming are up-to-date.

You can check for Windows updates via PC Settings > Update & Security > Windows update > click on “Get Updates”.

You can check for app updates by opening the Microsoft store

If all your system is up-to-date, please try each possible solution below:

1. Open the task manager and go to the startup tab, once there, click “disable” on each app listed.

After that, restart the PC and see if the problem is solved.

2. Do a clean boot in your Windows PC. For that, please follow this article:

You're welcome and thank you for letting me know. Have you already tried to reset your console keeping your games and apps? If not yet, don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Reset and keep my games & apps.

Hi MaddieJC15, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

I apologize for the trouble. If I may ask, do you have an external hard drive plugged into your console? A corrupted external hard drive may cause issue in installing games as well so we need to investigate further.
