How do I fix my games not updating when I try to update them it does not show any updates

We understand you are unable to install game updates in your Xbox console.



This issue may have been caused by settings in Xbox that need to be changed. Or it may also be a problem with games themselves. So let us work together as a team to get to the bottom of this. But to better assist you I need to ask:



1) From the device you’re having an issue, can you tell me if you’re getting all green checkmarks when visiting the following links?

(a) https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status

(b) https://portal.office.com/ServiceStatus



2) Do you get any error message when you launch a game? Or does the games just not launch at all?



3) Is the issue happening to all games or just a select few?

4) How long have you had this issue? Days? Weeks? Months?

5) Have you tried the steps from our Troubleshoot game issues on Xbox guide and see if the resolves the issue?

hi i have xbox live and all the latest updates. but would like to play my classic xbox games. an error code keeps showing up saying i need an update but dose not offer me any. what updates do i need and how do i get them. please post a link or show me how
to get it thank you

I just use the USB cord that came with my phone.

My question is after I update, the "update controller" tab in settings still shows active. How does one tell when there is a new controller update?

Update #2:

I still had no luck with my issue after going through everything again. So I resorted to hooking the Xbox One directly to my cable modem and it worked. All updates downloaded. It didn't want to try this method because I knew I would not be fixing my problem
since the Xbox has to run through my router. It is also strange in that I have had had 2 other games and the console itself update through the router.

How do game updates work on Xbox? Does the publisher send the updates to Xbox and then MS push them out or does the game check directly with the game publisher and get the update directly from them. If so could my problem be with the actual publisher's
website update method and not the Xbox? I was able to get Witcher 3 and Saints Row 4 to both update last week through the router, but Borderlands would not. Maybe a Gearbox problem?
