How do I fix my audio problems?

Whenever I'm using regular headphones to try to talk to others players on an xbox party i can hear them but i cannot speak. An independent advisor of xbox told me to restart my alternate mac adress which also did not work at all. This is not okay i should be able to use my regular headphones to talk to others in an xbox party without any problems. Therefore if anyone uas a solution to my problem please let me know.
