How do I enable device encryption in Windows 11 Home edition?

After downloading a game in the Xbox app on pc I'm unable to install it, because of the following error:

Disk volume does not support file encryption.

According to this Microsoft support page I need Bitlocker to enable device encryption, but it's not available in Windows Home edition.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...cryption-0c453637-bc88-5f74-5105-741561aae838

According to this official Xbox gamepass for pc page I only need "Windows 10/11 (version 22H1 or higher) and the Xbox app to play PC games".

    https://www.xbox.com/en-ZA/xbox-game-pass/pc-game-pass

I'm using Windows 11 Home edition (version 22H2 with OS build 22621.2134) and attempting to install a game on an SSD that has more than 250Gb storage available after the game has been downloaded.

    :)

    Thanks Tommy!

Setting ntfsDisableEncryption to 0 in the Registry Editor resolved the issue.

    HelloAbet_993.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Regarding to your information I assume that you can't install the game from the Xbox app because of the following error:

Disk volume does not support file encryption.

From the Xbox support you offer and my experience of using the XGP, the game from the Xbox app doesn't need to open the Bitlocker.

And it seems that need the NTFS encryption feature.

So first please make sure that your disk is NTFS format, then try to install the game in your system volume to test whether the NTFS file

    encrypt feature is open.

Right-click the volume and click the Properties

    Check the File system.

If not the NTFS format you need to format it to NTFS.

Click Format and choose the NTFS format. Before that please back up the data in this volume.

Change this value to 0 after that reboot the system.

If still can't work please go to this path create a new value set the value as 0.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Policies

Right-click Policies and create a DWORD Value

The name is NtfsDisableEncryption Value is 0 after that reboot your computer and try it again.

Windows 11 22H2 and Xbox wireless adapter failing

The device isn't disabled, so clicked enable isn't an option. Beside that I've already tried disabling and re-enabling the device

Windows 11 22H2 is as up-to-date as it can be with drivers.

Also before you ask me to waste more time. I've removed the device and re-plugged it in... no change

I've turned my computer off and on again (always a good classic waste of time)

I've uninstalled the device and had windows re-add it.

So none of that works. Have you tested these devices with Windows 11 22H2?
