How do I download the 4k patches in preparation?

I will be receiving an XBox One X as a Christmas present and thought I'd get a head start by downloading the 4k data to my current Xbox one S. I read the information in the Getting Ready section on the dashboard which seems to imply that so long as I have the
Download 4k box ticked and update games enabled in settings, the 4k data should download automatically for any installed games which support 4k. I tried it with F1 2017 but no updates were downloaded and I can see nothing in the Manage Game screen that looks
like a 4k patch.

What am I doing wrong?

Fallout 4 patch (Xbox One X)

The enhanced gaming and 4k resolution patch was released yesterday but my Xbox One X is not downloading and I have no options to check/force update. How do I get this patch to starting installing?

Xbox One X on 1080p TV without 4K patches

Hi,

If I play on the Xbox one X on a 1080p TV without the 4K patches, I won't benefit from supersampling. I get that. I still wonder though if I can still benefit from faster loading times and better FPS. Are those perks included in 4K patches or are they separated
? I don't want to have to download 4K patches because 1TB hard drive is too small.

4K patches will automatically download on your Xbox One S when available.

On the Xbox One X, if your game installation didn't get the 4K patch ahead of time, they'll still get the 4K patches as a required update before you play it.

prime that nothing should have a 4k screen or monitor, second not all games have 4k resolution and those if you must download the 4k graphic patches

I found I had to try and launch a game for it to prompt the download of the 4k patches, have them downloading for Forza 7, Titanfall2, Killer Instinct, Slime Rancher and mafia 3 using this technique.

Xbox Game discs are not read/write discs, only read. So the patches that enable 4k content are downloaded to your Xbox. Games that are made as 4k discs are 4k capable. Hope this helps.

Because you cant predownload 4k content

The way enchnced games work is they detect your console and then download the nessary patches

What you probably clicked was the 4k bluray options

Which only works on s and higher which is mot related to xbox x enchnaced games

You get them when it detects and only with xbox ehnaced enabled games

And no you cant predownload the patches

You will just have to wait for the console

just to let you know, there is a section on the original xbox one that tells you that you can prepare for the xbox one x, and tells you to click the box to go ahead and download the 4k content before you get your new console and then use the transfer option.
Done clicked on it myself a year ago, it still pops up in my feed when I'm using my other og xbox one about it.
