Why don't you just toggle your SSID on instead of hiding it? There's absolutely no security in hiding your SSID, since the SSID is sent in plaintext in the probe request sent from the client to AP.

What channel is your AP currently operating on the 5GHz band?

    Ssid

    Hi Jahmoor,

Thanks for coming to the forums.

If you cannot connect to your wireless network, you may not be connecting to the correct network name (SSID). To verify the SSID, follow these steps:

    1. Verify that the router is broadcasting the correct SSID. For information about how to verify the SSID, visit our
Networking Hardware Information forums to learn how to configure and update your specific network hardware.
    2. Configure the wireless settings on your Xbox console and use the SSID that is broadcast by the router. For information about how to configure the settings on your Xbox console, visit

How to configure wireless settings on your Xbox One console
      .
For further assistance, you will need to get with your ISP(internet service provider). They are the ones that can assist with the SSID and password for it. As this is a ISP issue, I will be locking this thread.

    Thanks,

    Brad

    Xbox Connection Troubles

Hello Greta D, my name is Vanessa, I will be happy to help you in any way I can.

Has this problem been happening to you when trying to connect via wireless network? If so, follow these steps:

A wireless router broadcasts the network name (SSID) every few seconds. If a router is not broadcasting the network name, your console may not be able to "see" the wireless network.

If no other wireless devices detect your network, the problem is with your router and not your console. To fix the problem, first verify that the router is broadcasting the correct SSID. Consult your router's documentation or manufacturer's website for information on how to configure and update your specific networking hardware.

Once you've checked the SSID your router is broadcasting, configure the wireless settings on your console and use the SSID your router is broadcasting. For help, see:

    For more information visit:

You can also review these steps if your connection is direct cable.

I hope this helps solve your problem.

    Virtual greetings.

    Sincerely
    Vanessa.

XBox One not connecting to wireless when SSID is not broadcasting

    Same Problem here.

Two different Routers, two different Xbox... same problem.

If we don't broadcast the SSID, it doesn't allow to add a new connection (after I put the SSID name, it can't pass to the Password part).

How do I connect an Xbox One to an SSID that is not broadcasting it's name? (A hidden network)

What good would it be to hide a particular SSID, if you don't have the option to deny broadcast probes for that particular SSID? Do you have that option?

Even in the most secure WLAN infrastructure, no one is hiding a network SSID. Take a minute, or two, and think about why that is.
