How do I check if my mic is working in BF4?

Tried three games. One with the Kinect as the mic, two using the bundled headset. One game I heard faint mumblings from players and then the rest was crickets. I don't even know if the mics are working of not. Annoying asking for a tank to stop and wait
for me only to have it totally ignores. Smh.

I have plugged the mic into the hub and also directly to the xbox 360 but the machine does not recognise that it is enabled both ways

Am i missing something?

Hi,

I don't know if this is what you mean but you have to select from the game menu using the joypad. The game then recognises this as a vocal game (in the same manner that it knows you are playing drums or guitar due to selection using the appropriate peripheral).

The only people who can here you are the guys in your squad.



There's a maximum of 5 players in your squad.



Headset mic is your best bet.



Use the "RB" button (I think it's that one) to issue command and make requests to the rest of your Team.

Couple possibilities, one is most people are in party chat, two is people don't talk and to see if yours is working, next to your name in game see if the mic icon has waves coming from it when talking. Also only your squad (green) can hear you, no blues.

Oh, also, I'm assuming chat audio does not get piped in through the headset and comes in through the main audio instead?

 

Just a morning bump to ask if chat audio is supposed to be coming out of my TV/sound system or if it's supposed to come out of the bundles headset. I recall hearing chat audio in one match and that came out of my sound system, I also can't find any settings
for it apart from VOIP on/off.

If you headsets in its supposed to come out of the headset, if your not using the headset, it will come out of the TV, even if you turned kinect chat off (just like a 360 without kinect)

 

Thanks! The time I heard it from the TV was when I used Astros and with the Kinect as the mic. Makes sense, I shall test it out some more (but it feels like very few people are using chat).

 

Yeah not many people. I even notice itll say my mics in, when its not plugged in at all

 

I think when the mic is not in you are still probably using a mic (via Kinect) unless that's not plugged in or you've disabled Kinect for chat?

Either that or BF4 is still buggy as heck. I actually tried testing the mic using party chat yesterday and bf4 for some reason was still loaded (even though I had specifically quit out of the game via the menu on the home screen) and that caused the bundled
mic to not register at all (the green circle next to my gamer tag wouldn't light up). After clearing out of BF4 by opening another app first, then it appeared that my mic was registering.

At this point, just don't know if it's people not using mics or if BF4 is just the buggiest piece of software on the planet ATM

 

Ive been wearing my TBs for the sound, but I cant "chat" because of no mic. Maybe plugging the Xbone headset into the controller and wearing that around my neck (for the mic) would now allow "chat"?

 

Uneasy, that might actually work. Then again, so does the Kinect mic. Kinect unfortunately also picks up on ambient sounds too. There's a rumor than some time around Feb there will be a next gen adapter for the TB headphones mic.
