How do I change the email connected to my gamertag?

Hi there, Xbox peeps!

Can I just say how super frustrating this is? My Hotmail account, which is connected to my gamertag/Xbox live account, was hacked over a month ago. I deleted the email because I didn't want to deal with hacker spam, etc. Except it also deleted my gamertag/Xbox
live account because they're connected. Lame. Thankfully I was able to UN-delete my hacked Hotmail account so I wouldn't lose my recently purchased one-year subscription, not to mention I LIKE my gamertag. Then I contacted your support peeps via chat to move
my gamertag and Xbox Gold subscription to a different email address. But apparently they can't do that... which they informed me after over an hour of sitting there waiting. Lovely. But they gave me a handy-dandy link to do it myself (Xbox.com/AccountSwap)
except it doesn't work. When I said as much I waited for another 30 minutes only to get responses like, "check your password," "try again," and my personal favorite, "create a new email address and use that." For real?! I have an email I want to transfer the
account to but when I try to do so I'm given an error (The email address or password you entered is not valid. Please try again). So I looked the error up, all while waiting for my "support" guy to think of something more helpful than "try again." (Error "The email address or password that you entered is not valid. Please try again" | Error Sign-in to Xbox Live)
Didn't work.

Feeling desperate, and REALLY wanting to not be using this hacked email, I created a stupid new email address to transfer my account to, which also didn't work. (Sorry, we can't change your Microsoft account right now. For more info, go to Xbox.com/AccountSwap). Full

The remaining 30 minutes of my chat experience was repetitive until I was advised to wait 30 days. Why? No idea. Go figure something I thought was going to take 10 minutes ended up taking 2+ hours and I had to go. But without any other options, I waited
a month, if for no other reason than to avoid another useless chat session.

Yet here I am, 30 days later and it still doesn't work. It won't transfer to the email I'd like to transfer it to (apparently the email/password is still invalid even though it isn't) and it won't transfer to that stupid email I created specifically to transfer
my account (see account swap).

I would REALLY like to delete this hacked email account and move my gamertag/Xbox live subscription & account to a different email address. This should not be so complicated, let alone frustrating. PLEASE give me a workable answer, preferably without wasting
more of my time. Thanks!

Inactivated e-mail

So my xbox account that i use is connected to my old school email which i no longer have accecs to since the email is no longer active. But I want to change email on the account but cant since i need accecs to my old email to do
that. How do i procced?

just as additional information, please check the restrictions that can prevent a email switch on the 2nd link mentioned by WeepySaucer.

Be aware that the profile may not have been (re)downloaded in those 30 days before you are trying to move it to a different Microsoft Account.

Any funds on the account may prevent movement as well.

I'm having the same problem, very frustrating. I have tried switching the e-mail linked to my Gamertag I created on an Xbox One, on my Xbox 360 several times... I get the same error "Sorry, we can't change your Microsoft account right now. For more info,
go to Xbox.com/AccountSwap" for no apparent reason (I am certain I have met every condition listed).

So far, the only solution seems to be to change my current Gamertag (10$), and then using the e-mail I want add an Xbox Live Gold subscription (60$) and start all over, using the same Gamertag.
