How do i change my account from xbox360 to xbox 1

Hi i have brought my son an xbox 1 for his birthday. but my subscription on xbox live is for his old xbox 360. is their a way of swapping it over on the account. or do i have to take out another subscription to xbox live for the xbox 1.

How to change gamertag without having a Xbox360 console?

I have an Xbox LIVE account and gamertag from the (now) vintage original black Xbox days.

I don't use that Xbox any more (don't have it anymore, I think...) but I do use the same gamertag on my Windows Phone.

I want to change my gamertag name from "JarnoPeschier" to something more like the name I use online elsewhere.

When I try to do this, I get redirected to a website that tells me who to do this on my Xbox360 console for 800 points.

However: I do not have a Xbox360 console.

How can I change my gamertag...?

When you first start the xbox one you will go through a set up process & download an update then all you need to do is download his account on the xbox one & you're good to go.

Gold will work on both consoles so no need to buy a new or separate subscription.

Welcome to XboxLIVE!

To apply your purchases to your Avatar from your Xbox360 console:

1. Go to your dashboard (if not there already press the center XBOX button on your controller and then press 'Y')

2. Go to the Social tab, and select your gamertag (avatar).

3. Select Customize Avatar.

From there you can change features (how the avatar looks) and change clothes.

I hope that helps, I'm doing this from memory as I don't have my xbox in front of me.

Ok, here is the story with real names. Last Tuesday my son was using his xbox360 at school with a gamertag of buddyboycoco associated with his Microsoft account. Friday he came home and on another xbox360 he created a profile which gave him a default gamertag
of . When it asked for a login he entered the same Microsoft account login as buddyboycoco. That changed his gamertag for his account from buddyboycoco to . How do we get buddyboycoco back for this account? If we try and change
it back to buddyboycoco it says "buddyboycoco is taken. Please try another."
