How do I add a child account?

I set up xbox live accounts for both of my children and kept the password for myself, but of course this required to fib about their age as they aren't old enough to have an account yet. I was reading another post about how to download my Xbox live profile
on another console and is was saying that the account could be a parent account with my children on it. This would be much better than the way I currently have it set up. How do I do this?

Family settings

I need help setting up family settings. It always says to add an adult to the family but not a child. How do I change my account from an adult to a child?

Please select the three dots beside the name of your child and you should see go to overview option and select "Spending" on the left part of the page.

Good question! Follow the steps below.

Using a web browser, visit family.microsoft.com.

Sign into your Family Safety account.

Find your family member and click Add money. You can also click More options > Spending > Microsoft account balance > Add money.

Select the amount of money you would like to add to your family member’s account and click Next.

Select your form of payment or click Add a way to pay.

Microsoft account balance and gift cards are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are currently inquiring about how to add Friends on your account.

As long as you have properly
configured your child's account, you would simply need to follow these steps to add a someone to your Friends list:

Press the Xbox button on your controller.

Go left to the People tab, and scroll down to select
Find someone.

Enter the individuals Gamertag.

There should be a section that reads Everyone On Xbox, your friend should appear there when you search for them.

Once you find them you should have the option to add them to your Friends list.

I am pretty sure I did this step and found her friends, but when I select them, the information that would normally show up on the next page does not show anything. I can click add, but it does nothing.

I tried logging into the family account to double check I allowed her to add friends, but I can not access this either. Is the microsoft xbox server down? Are there issues here we don't know? I really can not be sure of anything since I just tried this with
my youngest, but had similar issues yesterday.
