How difficult would it be to bring a game like Civilization or SimCity to Xbone?

I personally would love to see it, im sure im not alone. With the advances made in technology it seems possible, considering a pc half as powerful as next gens can run it. The only arguement i have really heard was that they are optimized for mouse and keyboard,
there must be a way around it. The Civ we actually got was Civ Rev and it was a port from a phone game. With how serious Civ is and felt like a child play Civ Rev, dont get me wrong, it was fun. There were no option to customised your experience, it was just
give us money and play this generic gametype. With the steam machine on the rise its games like these that will lead people to the PC Console.

With the power of next gen i expect we will see mmos and free roam games, along with stunning visuals. I doubt we will see mobas/city building games/world domination/etc..

Look at some of the most popular games out there, most of them have more players daily then xbox has ever had.

Steam, alone, has 65 million users... daily... they are about to release the steam machine.. a console... built around SteamOS.. where you can sign up for free... and play 1 of their 3000 PC GAMES... most of which are free to play and rest for great deals..

I like Xbox but people should not have to take a back seat to PC, "Everything is better on PC" while true shouldnt even be a thing but to miss out on great games because its only on pc is rediculous. People generally like consoles because they are convenient
and you can play on your tv. You could already build a pc twice as powerful as next gen, use your tv as a monitor and have any controller you want, but now they are making a console...

This went off track somewhere. Before people start debating PC vs Console, do this one thing, go find your console of choice, look inside, its a computer..

Console is a PC and PC is making a console..

    :)

What game must be released with the NEXT XBOX for you to buy an XBOX on the first day or so?

I second you for SimCity or Civilization, but the one game of all time that I would buy the system just for supporting the title is... Shenmue III !!!

  3. help finding a game

i remember once i played a game like simcity where you create a city/state/country and have to take care of making buildings and jobs and such, and also there were AI or other players doing the same and if you wanted you could make armies and fight them,
but i cant find any games like that other than the civilization games but that isnt it because you dont have to build buildings for jobs/homes/other, anyone know of a game like im talking about? (for PC/360/PS3 doesnt matter)

  6. Civilization Revolution worked well on the Xbox 360. You could bring both series to consoles and they would work no problem. I've been dying to play Sim City since before it launched. I've been holding out for a console release. I hope EA does it.

I don't think it will be difficult to bring PC games to the Xbox One, I think we'll see them over time, the following is an interesting read if you have not already seen it,

    -

Xbox One running Windows 8 apps.

The Xbox 1's hardware architecture is very similar to PC's x86-64. Xbox 1 has 8GB DDR3 RAM to play with (5GB for gaming) and an AMD 8 core Jaguar APU. So it shouldn't be too hard. I really want to see The Sims 3 on Xbox 1. It's on Xbox 360 (including The
Sims 3 Pets on Xbox 360) so EA since they make their popular The Sims series on so many platforms, should make it for Xbox 1. There's a clever reason why Microsoft and Sony moved to x86-64 to make it easier for game developers who make games for PC.

    Not hard at all.

These are really simple games as far as what's required to run.

They run on your mobile device.

They're just PC games that are normally played with a mouse and keyboard and that doesn't always translate very well to console.

When they get the interface right it can work really well like "Civ Rev" did on the 360.

Xbox 1's hardware revolves around the x86-64 instruction sheet which is what PC's use. So shouldn't be that hard. But instead of using a mouse and keyboard, the game developers need to make it for a console which uses a controller and perhaps some Kinect
features too and the multiplayer component to work with Xbox Live.

Unlike with PC gaming where you have to check if your PC meets the minimum/recommended specs to play a game, console gamers don't need to worry about this.

  11. Civilization V would be perfectly possible on the Xbox One, even with a controller. The Xbox One has the processing, graphical horsepower and RAM to run this game. The Xbox One has 5GB of RAM for games, the recommended for the PC version is 4GB.

Sims 4 is due for release on the PC platform in the autumn of this year. EA tends to make a console version soon after. My guess is the next gen console releases of the Sims should more closely match the PC version this time. Not been a fan of the console
versions of the Sims, they're pretty scaled back compared to PC, the Sims 3 was. Should be different this time round.

  12. In my opinion the Command and Conquer ports were some of my favourite games on the Xbox 360, along with BFME 2. It can be done, the devs just need to be creative and clever. It can never be as fast paced and manic as on PC because we can't macro, but it
can still be done. C&C proved that.

I don't think sim city's controls would transfer well to controller.

Appreciate the input, I want games like Civ 5/Sim City/Prison Architech so bad. Genuinely debating dropping 2g to build an over the top pc, maybe perstering the devs might help, however a petition of sorts would be more logical. Civ 5 and Sim City are older,
so a chance to make money off old goods just by porting.
built around SteamOS.
The SteamOS is a linux distribution with Steam branding. It isn't going to cause a massive shift toward PC style gaming on a 'console' because most games on Steam don't run on linux.

If the SteamBoxes do somehow suddenly make developers and publishers want to support linux with their games, then there may be something to worry about.

However I don't see that happening, even with the backing of Valve, for quite some time.

As much as I hate to agree with Az, he's right in this case. It's all down to how they adapt the control scheme. Command and Conquers on the Sega Saturn got the controls right, for example, but those of Halo Wars on the 360 were bloody awful.
