    How can you tax FREE items???


    I tried to download the free GwG game but it said I had to pay $0.77 for sales tax... How do you charge taxes on a FREE item? Last I checked, any percentage of $0.00 is $0.00. I don't really care much about the sales tax itself, if I paid for a $10 game,
    I'd expect to pay $10.80 with 8% tax, that's fine... But you can't calculate sales tax on $0.00

    they arnt free there is tax involved

    They can still tax you for stuff that is free believe it or not. I've had that happen. Where you don't have pay for it but you still have to pay tax....dunno how it works though.

    Try winning a "free" car sometime. You will be paying taxes on it. There are MANY things that you can be charged taxes on, even if it is $0 or "free". It all depends on the terms of said "free" item.

    .

    If you live in a state that charges taxes on groceries, and you have a buy 1 get 1 free coupon on lets say a gallon of milk, you WILL be paying the sales taxes on the "free" one.

    Tax on a free item would still be free. If you can, you can also just change it to purchase with points and not have to deal with a payment method.
