How can you play on xbox one with someone that is playing on PC? Help!

How can an XBOX 1 player play against someone that is on PC? When I research this it says there is an Epic Friend button, but my son does not have one there. His friend is on PC and they are trying to figure out how to do this...

Is it possible to play with someone on a xbox 360 if you are playing on the xbox one if so can someone walk me through it thank you for any help sorry if this post is in the wrong place or that I have broken any rules.

Cross Console Multiplayer Game play !!! Update please.

Even though you can play Xbox 360 games on Xbox One this is and always be a no go. You can play a 360 game on Xbox one provided it is compatible with someone on 360 but you have never been able to play a Xbox One version of a game with someone who is playing
a 360 version of the same game.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. We'd be happy to help.

Are you playing on the Xbox One? Or is someone on PC playing cross platform?

If other multiplayer games work then the servers may be going through some maintenance.

If you are playing on an Xbox One console, have you tested your network to make sure your NAT is OPEN and all services are available? On PC it should be the same on the Xbox app.

What troubleshooting have you done?

Let us know that information and we can figure out how we can solve this issue if possible.

I'm not sure if you can play on a pc if you're game sharing on the Xbox, but I'll let someone else answer that one. I can point you towards the Play Anywhere titles troubleshooter in case something in there might help.

"Regardless of the launcher used on pc you will be put into pc lobbies and there is no crossplay.

There isn’t even crossplay between a new gen console and an old gen. This means someone on an xbox one can’t even play with someone playing the series x version of the game. The same is true with ps4/ps5 (note: they can play together if the new gen player downloads the lower quaility, last gen version).

If you want to play together you’ll either need to get an xbox or they’ll need to get a pc."

AFAIK, the only way that Xbox and PC players can play together is if one player has a Series X and the PC player plays the game via cloud gaming (using a Game Pass ultimate sub)
