How can I reset family controls to an Xbox360 I just purchased?

hi there, does anyone know how to recover the answer to your pass code question. i'm having an issue with my passcode and cannot get access to the family screen to reset. i also need to know how to reset to default setting on xbox360, help please

If you’ve forgotten your pass code, you can reset it by answering the pass code question you created when you set up parental controls on your Xbox 360 console. Here’s how:

1. On your console, go to Settings, and then select Family.
2. When you’re prompted, enter any pass code (even though it’s incorrect).
3. When you’re notified that your pass code is incorrect, select Reset Pass Code.
4. When your pass code question appears, use your controller or chatpad to enter the answer, and then select Done.

If you’re unable to remember the answer to your pass code question, you’ll need to contact Xbox Support for help.

I don't believe the cause is the "family" settings. I believe parental controls were placed on the account on my orinigal Xbox360. I recall several years ago, I was requested to put in a different email address to approve a purchase - that email address belonged to my parent.

The "Family" I am in already has me having elevated priviledges - I can approve or decline my step kids getting games etc.
