How can I regain access to an old account?

I've been trying to get access to an old account I have with Microsoft. I created it in 2013 and used my university's email at the time, but now the email address has changed its domain (from @nova.edu to @mynsu.nova.edu) in 2015 and I don't have access to it anymore. Since I don't have access to the email in itself anymore, I have been using the Microsoft account to purchase and play games but have been accessing it through the code I get on my phone. However, as of now the "text me a code" option isn't working (it says "Try another verification method", and I'm completely locked out of the account. I've tried the "account recovery form" but the questions asked are impossible to answer, since I don't have a way to know some of the old information (e.g., my XBOX 360's ID when I already sold it in 2018, or the credit card used many years ago to purchase games, or the email addresses I've sent, etc).

I'm in desperate need of help so I don't lose years of achievements and all the games I've already purchased in that account.

I truly am sorry to hear that.

You might not be able to recover your account because it's deleted, even if you had the information needed.

If you haven't signed in to your account for a long time, it might expire due to inactivity, after a 2 year period.

We can no longer access the old account email and therefore cannot reset the password as necessary, but just entered a request for Microsoft to change the email address on that old account so we can regain access. It seems that will be necessary to be able
to effectively use this GamerID in the future. Once this is accomplished, will follow up if we still cannot figure out how to resolve this issue.

You need to call phone support then to regain access to your old account.
