When I bought my minor son his first Xbox, I added the Xbox to my account and had my son sign in there to use it. He is now an adult and I want him to set up his own Microsoft account and move his Xbox to his own account. How do we do this??.

You can easily havr him create his own account and log into his xbox.

He will lose access to his saved games and anything linked to your account. They cannot be transferred to another Microsoft account, nor can his gamertag.

He would essentially be starting fresh on his account.

I have similar issue.
When my son got an Xbox I set him up under my account; he was very young and I didn't want him to have his own account. Seemed best practice to set him up under my account.

He will be 18 this year, he now has a Microsoft account, and wants to have his Xbox account under his own Microsoft account.

It's absolutely ridiculous that Microsoft don't allow transfer between family members to account for kids growing up and wanting to take control of their own digital assets.

I apologize but we can't move or transfer an Xbox profile from one Microsoft account to another.

You can change the primary email address but according to Xbox support:

"When removing an email alias that’s connected to a Microsoft domain (such as @Outlook.com, @Live.com, or @Hotmail.com), that email is completely deleted from our systems and can’t be used to send or receive emails. It won’t be available for use again as an alias on another account. Microsoft doesn’t recycle email addresses, so it can’t be reclaimed at a future time."

If you're using the Microsoft account in other services that may be deleted.

The Microsoft account and th Xbox account are basically one in the same. They cannot be separated. If you wish to use separate accounts, one of you will have to start over with a new account.

Okay... still fustrating. On one email there are TWO profiles right.. so one profile is his and one is mine. But i now have my own xbox live account on my own email with microsoft. I am trying to get that gamertag profile off of his and transferred onto
my account. How do i do that without moving ALL his information on my own account????
