How can I move a XBox Gamer Tag and/or other microsoft purchases to another Microsoft account?

Xbox Live accounts (Gamertags) are forever attached to the Microsoft account that they are associated with. Nothing can be transferred between accounts.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. Unfortunately, it is impossible to move gamer tag from one account to another. However, if the account you want to move it to, does not have a gamer tag then you can

change the primary email on the one you want to move with the other email.

If you log on to your Microsoft account, add another email as an alias & change it to primary (if you can - Bell Sympatico users appear to be restricted from doing so) before removing the unwanted email that should now be just an alias then you shouldn't
lose anything.

If you move the gamer tag to a completely different Microsoft account (if you can... see above) then you'll have to sacrifice any currency remaining in your account. Everything else should transfer over to the other Microsoft account according to other postings
in various forums as those follow the gamer tag. If you have a large balance of currency then I suggest you spend it as best you can before moving the gamer tag (to be clear, this ONLY applies if MOVING the GT, adding/changing alias email as mentioned above
doesn't have this issue).

Yes they were live accounts that's why they had gamer tags. A few years ago you can set up a gamer tag on the Xbox without the link to a Microsoft account so how do you recover these old gamer tags without a Microsoft account?

hello there i don't think you guys in microsoft are getting the picture how do you remove a gamer tag from a microsoft account so there is no gamer tag on the account? better yet how can you cancel a microsoft account period?
