How can I get Flight Simulator to stop crashing when I attempt to start a flight in World Map?

I just built a new gaming PC. Flight Simulator was the #1 reason I did this. I'm super frustrated. I was able to go through the Flight Training levels with no problem. But now, trying to experience real flights, the app keeps crashing. What can I do to get the game to let me fly?

I'm unable to start a flight after picking an airport and a plane in World Map. I get to a screen where I hear the tower talking, but when I hit the "Fly" button, the app closes. I believe that I've found an event in Event Viewer that describes the error. I've included it at the bottom of this post.

I installed the game via the XBox app and the online subscription model. I've tried all of the troubleshooting steps I can find. My drivers are all fully up to date. I've checked this a number of ways in Windows and have also run the AMD driver manager. Everything says I'm fully up to date. I've rebooted. I've run FS in admin mode. I've run it in Safe Mode. I've lowered values for a number of properties, including texture size and general complexity settings (changed something from "Auto" to "Medium", which set a bunch of individual settings to lower specs).

One thing I'm not sure of is if I'm fully up to date with the FS code. At some point, a screen came up that told me I had to apply a "mandatory" update. I let it do that. I was about 100Gb and it took a few hours. I restarted my machine after that completed, but the problem remained. I've done all I can do manually to find and apply updates, but when I launch the app, it shows me a bunch of stuff that suggests that I can or have upgraded. New airports, challenges, etc. Since it happens every time I launch, I apparently haven't had those applied or why would it keep showing them to me. But I can find no UI in the app to tell me what version I'm on or to let me update anything. So I have no idea how to respond to the information I'm given about new features upon startup. So maybe there is an update I don't have that would fix this?

Windows Pro 10

Gigabyte Aorus 550 Pro AC

AMD Ryzen 5600

AMD Raedon RX 6650 XT

16GB Ram

1TB Nvme 25% full

I have installed nothing special or optional. All I've done besides install FS is install a couple of other games via the Xbox app.

I would be asking questions in the main FS forums, but I can't log in. I get a box that says "We sent you an email..." but I haven't gotten an email. The box says "click the link to send a new confirm code", but I can't find such a link.
