    How can I get a controller repaired that is out of warranty?


    Microsoft support will not help me repair my controller because it is out of warranty (i.e. I supported the Series X by buying it day one and the console came out more than 30 days ago). They won't even let me pay them for it now. So how am I supposed to repair a broken controller that I cannot fix myself?

    Also, it says this on the page you linked to, but they do not offer repairs with a repair free.

    "If it’s within warranty, repairs are free. If your device is out of warranty, you’ll be charged a repair fee."

    I know that they do not offer a repair service after talking to support. But then is there literally no option than buying a new $70 controller? Is there any chain that will offer repairs?

    This is an unacceptable way to deal with controller repairs given that both Microsoft and Sony sourced the same analog stick parts that Nintendo used for Switch, which earned Nintendo a class-action lawsuit, and Microsoft is already dealing with a lawsuit over stick drift on the elites. There need to be ways for consumers to get repairs without risking being ripped off by strangers online, and there need to be ways to repair controllers instead of buying new ones so that we aren't just creating unnecessary electronics waste that will never decompose.

    Microsoft does not offer a repair service for controllers. If it is in warranty they replace it. Other than that this might help.
