How can I fix my Xbox One X and Series S random intermittent HDMI static?

    Hi,

I've had my Xbox one X for many years, and starting last year I began having issues where my LG TVs video signal would randomly start to cutout every few seconds. It shows static, then black, and then it comes back to the Xbox. This will keep happening until I turn both the Xbox and TV off for about 10 seconds, when I turn them back on it's good again for a few days. But it happens every few days.

I have a PC, Nintendo Switch, and Steamdeck plugged into the same LG TV and they never have any issues. I tried at least 10 different HDMI cables but no luck. I assumed maybe my Xbox just reached the end of its life. So I bought a Series S 1tb a few days ago, and last night the issue re-appeared on the new Xbox.

Now I'm at a loss. It's not the Xbox necessarily, it's not the TV necessarily, and it's not the cables. It must be something about the way they communicate, but none of the settings make any difference so far. I've looked in forums for suggestions, I've tried all the setting changes suggested there too with no luck.

I see many people online have posted about this issue. But no one seems to have resolved this issue.

Has anyone else dealt with this and found a solution? I would really appreciate any info that could help.

My TV is a 4k LG 55UJ6300-UA with HDR.

Thanks! How can I fix my Xbox One X and Series S random intermittent HDMI static? :)

    :)

    Hello,

Have you tried messing with your TV and display settings to access go to settings<general<TV and display options. Maybe you might HDMI-CEC enabled this setting lets your xbox control your tv. Unfortunately I'm not an expert at stuff like this so if it doesn't work it might help asking on reddit or maybe look on xbox's support page.
    Thanks for the response Dinsok!

I have tried messing with all of the related settings on both the Xbox and TV. I've seen many posts about this issue on this and other forums. I tried most of the setting changes I saw there too.

My HDMI-CEC setting is off. Turning it on doesn't help the issue either.

I have not tried the Xbox forum yet, I will do that!

Xbox series X game brightness issue

I've had this occasionally and as far as I can tell it's related to how my Series X (or One X before that) invokes HDR on my TV. It's intermittent and was often resolved by launching a HDR game or rebooting my XBox.

Variable Refresh Rate greyed out with a AMD compatible Monitor (HP 27xq AMD FreeSync monitor)

The Xbox One X is the only console that has HDMI 2.1. Xbox One S has HDMI 2.0.
The Xbox One S and One X both use HDMI 2.0,

The Xbox One uses HDMI 1.4

The Series X will have HDMI 2.1.

    4k 120hz issue

    Hi,

Do you have the Xbox One, or the Xbox Series S? You'd be surprised how many people get the names confused.

If it's an Xbox One S, then that console doe not support 120Hz @ 4K. Also, the HDMI out on the Xbox One S is HDMI 2.0, not 2.1. Only the Xbox Series S and Series X support 4K @ 120Hz via the console settings. The One S is only 1080P.

Bear in mind also, that there are no games for the Xbox One S that do 120Hz (or 120 fps). The 120Hz option is only there to support VRR (variable refresh rate).

If you want to play 120Hz supported games, you will need a Series X. The Series S support of 120Hz games is a lot more limited.

Note that on the Qn95a, only HDMI 4 supports HDMI 2.1
