yes, i did redeem the xbox gift card on my microsoft acount and i did use most of my 50$ on the microsoft store for vbucks, i used arround 30 to 40 dollars on vbucks already (10$ for 1000 vbucks) at that point i didnt know how much money i stIll had on my gift card so i decided to search up vbucks on the microsoft store and instead of buying it i was goona check how much money was still on the card, then i accidentally pressed A and purchased it.

the main reason microsoft does this is so you always have a point balance in your account. and the reason for that is the same reason publishers push pre-orders so hard. and the reason "gift cards" exist.

your point balance translates to real money sitting in a microsoft high-interest bank account. all the points you have sitting in your account are making microsoft money behind the scenes. individually it might not be much, but millions of accounts equals
a lot of points.

same with pre-orders. drop money 3 months in advance for a game, that money sits in eb's high-interest bank account making them money, same with gift-cards. hope that helps.

No im in uk, my friend is in USA. Whats the point in Gifting Games to people, if you cant use it because of the Region you live in. Absolute joke on Microsofts part, they losing money now as i will make people aware not to Gift. You would expect that all games are compatable wherever you are, especially if its bought from Microsoft store. There all the same xboxes and games, just shows how Greedy each Region is to Purchase a game if it wont work elsewhere.

I suppose you could use the money on that account to gift your own account a game or other purchase from the Microsoft Store, but it won't be possible to use it for a gamertag change at this point.
