How can I defend myself without getting banned?

Ok so its as simple as this; when i play sports games people get mad and message me. or in most scenarios they use voice chat to yell at me. so this morning i hopped on, played some 2k and was called a [mod removed] many times, and was told to pull up
to a random white kids “hood” to get “packed”. So i said “stop being a [mod removed]” and IMMEDIATELY got a notice of enforcement. so tell me then xbox, if i am playing and someone else wants to call me all sorts of names and when i use the word [mod removed];
its just too much for you right? but my reports on a man calling me racist and homophobic slurs is ok? stellar thanks for making me want to keep a flow of $60 yearly to your [mod removed] hands

If you have reported the person, as you say you have. Then the report will get checked and investigated, and if the user has been found to break the code of conduct, then the relevant punishment will be given. Please remember Xbox Enforcement get thousands
of reports a day, and have to investigate each one. Some of them can take time, so please be patient, your reports will be checked. Reporting the person more than once will not make the investigation go any quicker. One report is all that is needed.

While none of what those people have said to you is excusable, it doesn't give you a pass to also violate the terms of service in response. Getting a reaction is exactly what they want - don't feed the trolls. Playing with someone you don't like? Block
them. That player spouts hatespeech or turns to threats of violence? Report them. Block and report are there to prevent situations exactly like this.
