How can I access my Java Minecraft account?

I migrated from a Mojang Account to a Microsoft account a few months ago. It all went smoothly until 2 days ago when I tried logging into the Minecraft Launcher and again was asked for my username and password, which was successful. However, I was then asked to make an Xbox account with a new in-game name. I was confused since I already had an IGN for Minecraft. Nevertheless, I made the Xbox IGN, but when I got to the launcher, instead of saying "Play" it now says "Buy Now". That's not right since I used the same email to buy the game 4 years ago as I did for the Microsoft account. I need help locating my account because I only use one email, and that email isn't linking for some reason.

I already tried changing my passwords to see if that did anything, but it doesn't.

It is all the same email. I can sign in to the Microsoft account without issue. The issue is that it doesn't shoe a purchase of java minecraft. I can play minecraft for windows with that account without issue. Just not the Java version. There is no error message, but I only have access to the demo. The account is secured with my phone number.

Perhaps we can explore why I have windows minecraft but not Java minecraft. Articles indicate that I should have access to both.

I bought the Windows 10 version of Minecraft by mistake, but the one I wanted was the java edition.

I saw that anyone who buys minecraft java edition is entitled to minecraft Windows 10. Is the reverse also true? Who buys minecraft windows 10 is entitled to minecraft java edition?

If so, how do I access the java edition version at no additional cost?

Sorry to hear about that, however, since you have a different Store account from what you use for gaming, unfortunately, the access for Java isn't shareable. Only the account that has the game (your work email) has access to it. Try to sign in using that account on the Xbox app and the Minecraft launcher to access this version of the game.

You may refer here: https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/66... and look for "I family-share my account with my children, will they get both versions of Minecraft?" and it states that "No, only the account that purchased Java or Bedrock will have access to Java Edition. Family sharing will work for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition." - Same goes for you, as you have a different Store account.

Minecraft Java Edition can be purchased from thier store page using your Microsoft Account:

And then being accessed with the (free) Minecraft Launcher on the Microsoft Store.

Both Windows and Java Editions are included with Xbox Game Pass for PC/Ultimate subscription.
