    How being an insider ruined my day


    Rant follows

    If I get a chance to play Xbox during the day it isn’t for very long. I have two kids, they’re very little so they need a lot attention. Sometimes I am lucky enough for them both to be napping at the same time. That was today, I was excited. Had my console on because I was afk from the night before, time to hop on and check my spoils.

    ITS UPDATE TIME!

    F, alright. My internet is a little spotty, this takes a long time. It’s happened at least half a dozen times and every time I tell myself “I have to quit the insider program” but, by the time the updates done, I’m just happy to be playing. Update complete, load up my game, I think I’ll finally take a minute to get rid of my Xbox insider problem. Well I have to download the insider app to do that. F, alright then. Download that, quit insider.

    ITS UPDATE TIME

    F*** me, this sucks. Spotty internet, this update takes 3 times as long as the first. I can’t skip, I’m trapped. Not a good feeling. I start pricing out PS4’s. An eternity passes, the console restarts. I eagerly switch to HDMI.

    My Xbox is factory reset.

    I have to enter time zone, wifi password, everything. My profile, gone. I have to do all the recovery steps for that, Captchas in Mandarin and Cyrillic alphabets, email archeology, the whole deal. For every account..This sucks, I’m hating everything. Am I being punished for leaving the insider program? Anyhow, that was my morning.

    It's make me feel better when I kill someone with it. Because I'm just hoping the guy on the other end of my boomstick is screaming at his TV about how the SOS has ruined his game and ruined gears. Yelling things like Noob and random homophobic remarks.
    That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

    If you've had a system update twice in three days you must be an Insider.

    May I suggest you unsubscribe from being an Insider because part of the experience of being an Insider is that you receive a lot of updates.
