    How are games now licenses?

Got my first Microsoft gaming console that I've ever had. I have to say I love the Live Community more then Playstation Online (Seems Lonely and barren) and Nintendo's new fun MiiVerse. All the games I have for the XboxOne I already have for the PS4/WiiU
to play on the go for when I'm bored as I bought it for Video Creations for my job not gaming.

Anyway... I looked at my Discs for Mortal Kombat/Black Opps 3 for XboxONE and noticed that the tiny print says I do not OWN the game, but the media copy state that the disc was still a license just like a Digital purchase. When I first got my PS4 and Wii
U I was told by representatives that those games belong to me even digitally.

This makes me question how the discs are only a license? It's not a digital purchase that can be revoked for any reason. Warner Brothers or Microsoft can't just come to my house and confiscate the disc. I may not own the copy righted data, but I own the
Physical plastic disc, casing, and artwork because its IN MY HANDS. How is a physical medium merely a license? When I bought games for the Playstation 1, 2, 3, GameCube Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 64, SNES, NES etc, I didn't see anything about licenses. Is this a
    new thing?

All 3 Console manufactures have been pushing digital, and that scares me if they stopped making Discs altogether if something happens to your account or system.

    :)

GAME are now selling EA games.

Game stores will never be able to compete with the Internet unfortunately, the overheads don't allow it.

They will also struggle against supermarkets who can afford to sell games at a loss, having said that I have personally found asda not to Be too cheap anymore.

The disc itself contains a license to the game to allow you to play as well as the game itself. When the Xbox loads up the game all it has to do is check the license and no longer reads off of the disc itself. The game on the disc is only utilized for the
    install process and not playing.

Adding More Games From Original Xbox

Doesn't matter how many votes they get though, some of those games just can't be made BC purely for licensing reasons. You can forget the 007 James Bond games, EA no longer have the James Bond License. The Godfather, Scarface and Spiderman are also based
on a Movie license which have now all expired too.

    Just an FYI

    Backwards compatibility

Note that while Microsoft owns Activision, it does not own Marvel. Any type of movie or TV game, sports title, or racing game has licences owned by the owner of the I.P. Licenses expire, they don't become active again just because Microsoft now owns Activision. That's not how licenses work.

    Speed of game...

I had a notice that the Microsoft Solitaire Collection couldn't be opened because I needed to renew my license. I never had a license, as the game was on the computer when I bought it. Now I can't get into a game which I find a wonderful pastime. How can
    I get this to work?
