How are game download speeds these days ?

I'm returning to Xbox and Live Gold account this week after a 2.5 year absence. I have heard from several friends that game download and xbox live update speeds are quite slow. Is this true ?

I have Destiny Legacy Edition and Halo MCC purchased digitally along with Halo 5 on disc. I really don't want to spend my entire day downloading updates and games instead of actually buying them.

I'm getting the One S on Tuesday. I also have fibre so normally my download speeds are pretty good

EA is known for poor service these days.....

Download speed is a myth in regards to better game play. It has NOTHING to to with gameplay IMO.

Digital Download Times

there are many variables that will determine the max download speed, in quite a few cases the download speed is determined by the ISP and the subscription you have with them, that usually has a maximum download speed, so it might be best to try and find
out what that is for your situation. The network devices in your network could also be a limitation on the maximum download speed you can reach.

Games these days are also quite large (on any current generation console) so that will take time.

I've got a good internet connection and sometimes updates seem to go slow but mainly they just zip along!

If your installing a disc and you think it's slow if you appear offline this should speed up the process.

The best thing to do when installing games from disc is to unplug the internet, the reason for this is that if you don't, the console checks to see if an update is available. If one is available it adds the download time onto the install time (if you see
what I mean) and the installs can take AGES.

If you leave the console in the "instant on mode" hat happens is that your console will check once a day to see if a game update is available, if one is it will download in the background. This works 90% of the time for me, only every now and then do I
only find an update is available when I put the disc in.

I downloaded the game in less than an hour how it takes 21 hours to download for you!!??

Thats crazy almost an entire day downloading only one game??

How much internet connection speed you have??!!

Thanks for coming to the forums. When you download a game the speeds will fluctuate all the time. This is especially true if you are on a wireless connection. There are factors like how busy is the game server you are getting the game or app from, the time
of day you are downloading. Remember when you do a speed test the test is not a continuous use of the internet like a download is.
