How and where: background downloads

So I am truly trying to find the background download. Where I can turn off my xbox one so my xbox downloads while I sleep.

How can I find this

How old is your TV?

Is it hooked up via HDMI?

Have you tried turning off background downloads then shutting the console off, restarting the console and turning background downloads on?

 

Xbox Turns on after i turn it off.

You most likely have background downloading enabled.

How to disable background downloads:

1. Press the Guide button on your controller.

2. Select settings and then System Settings.

3. Select Console Settings.

4.Select Startup and Shutdown.

5.Select Background Downloads.

6.Select Disable.

7.Select Yes to confirm the change.

You need 'Instant On' mode to download purchases and game updates when you are asleep or otherwise not using your console. Note that the console is still on, but is in low power mode and uses 15w. You will also hear the machine's fan slightly, this is quite
normal.

 

To add to Obsessive's answer, if you are using external media (eg hard drive) for storing games, once you have put the console into Instant On you will need to make sure that the option to turn off external media when the console is off is NOT selected,
as this will stop any downloads you're doing when the console powers down. If you're only using the console's internal hard drive, feel free to ignore this but I felt it worth mentioning just in case.

 

And to add a little bit more, You may have to play with the check boxes in the Instant On menu for it to work.

I had everything set like it was suppose to be but mine was not downloading while turned off. Long story short, I uncheck the automatic update option and then checked it again and for some reason mine starting working right. I believe I restarted my xbox
between unchecking and checking.

 

for some reason i cant not download any updates for my game, last night i was sleep hopping that eso will be far long by morning , still at 60 % where was last night.

odd thing is that all night long seems only download beween 20 to 400 kbps
