How about a reward for UK customers?

I have the machine! And isn't crap to expect a multi trillion dollar corporation to sell something as advertised.

If customers are disappointed then it's down to Microsoft to address the problem. To ignore it will mean all the fan boys will be losing their beloved machine as it's slowly killed off by Sony. By giving a little back to consumers now it will help to improve
brand image and increase its chances of survival. Which I what I want.

I'm still not sure what you mean by not getting something that was advertised? Again we knew certain features wouldn't be with us from the start and it was a case of waiting so what's the problem? If you didn't want have a console and have to wait for things
to be added then surely the best course of action for you would have been to wait before buying the Xbox One?

As for blind devotion, ok personally I'm happy with what I've got so far, games, online service etc but not for a second do I think it's perfect but as I said before, with any console, it evolves, improves over time, nothing to do with blind devotion for
me.

You mention customers being disappointed, of course there are people disappointed, you can't please everyone but Microsoft have already addressed some of the issues and are in the process of addressing others but as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day.

Like Wombat said above, if your not happy with what Microsoft are offering then move on, unless of course you are willing to wait and see what the future holds, meaning, what games are announced, improvements, new features added etc, not much else you can
do.

 

I never said anything about moving on. My point was quite simple to understand.

We are customers....we have purchased a product that was advertised as having integrated TV and full HD gaming (See TV adverts via YouTube for proof). It was also advertised this way at point of sale. This was advertised in the UK with no mention of having
to wait at least 6months for these features.

When I purchased this console I knew that it was under powered compared to the ps4 but I did not care. As the other features it had to offer out weighed the drop in power. And I also believe that the eSRAM could prove interesting in the years to come if
used properly. Now what I did not realise is that Microsoft hadn't released the SDK to the developers so that they could come to grips with its chip layout. It is for the reason why the HD gaming is only now beginning. I understand that HD gaming is not
the be all and end all of gaming. But this is the next generation of consoles and was meant to be there as standard (as advertised)

Now on launch it was expected that the UK would have to wait longer for the TV integration compared to the US.

With it being this length of time since these advertised standard features of the console coming out. I feel that it would be a nice gesture on behalf of Microsoft to repay its customers for being loyal and patient, that is all. I do not expect anything
big, just merely a gesture would've been nice.

 

Whichever "side of the fence" you are on OP has a point. Do not get me wrong I have nothing but praise for my One and I am really enjoying it, I have been through a fair few games and I would early adopt again.

Whether it bothers you or not MS is alienating some of it's customer base with things like this and the rapid price drops. Little gestures that don't impact them financially would make sense to me, for early adopters, if I were running the company.

 

TV intergration arrived last month, plug in bt youview or sky and setup the one guide, it is all there and voice controlled goodness, also Microsoft is a multi billion dollar company, not trillion dollar. and give it a rest with all this resolution rubbish.

I get where your coming from but as far as I'm aware and if I'm wrong I apologise but Microsoft didn't give us an exact date when the TV features would be with us? I think they said "Sometime in 2014" but that was it. ( I just read Farscape say it's there?
) I use my XB1 for gaming so I really couldn't say? lol

As for the SDK, eSRAM, DX12, I know quite a few developers have said things will improve once this is out, some have said the XB1 was designed to work with DX12, eSRAM and that's why there's a few problems at the moment, others have said the OS is a little
tricky to get to grips with? I really dunno, like I said before though I really don't understand how it all works.

To be honest though the resolution debate has been done to death but as other sites have reported more recently, Digital Foundry, Eurogamer to name a few, a lot of the recent titles, Thief, COD Ghosts, Assassins Creed, all reported to have slightly crisper
visuals on the PS4 but slightly better frame rate on the XB1 so take your pick so to me this just goes back to what I said before, it will take developers time to get to grips with both consoles, as time goes on things will just get better and better.

Just recently they have finally announced Drive Club on PS4 will be 1080p/30fps. It's own developers have said to get the best visuals possible they compromised the FPS so we know PS4 is the more powerful hardware but just like with the XB1 ( not on the
same scale ) it will take developers time to get the best out of these consoles.

I'm still not sure what you think Microsoft owe you though? or why they owe you it? I guess easy for me to say as overall I'm more than happy with the XB1 so far but I knew from the start it would take a fair bit of time for these consoles to really start

The tv features are only available to those on the preview.....something I am not on :'(

From what i have seen the STB controls look good, could do with further refining. I just wish we could be told when they might make general release or at least offer more people the preview as an opt-in

 

I never knew TV would not be available in the Uk. When did they say that at E3 or any of the Ads we see on the 360?

 

I really don't understand this we should be compensated rubbish and it is rubbish if you going to shell out 100s of pounds on a product you research it you weigh up what it does and does not do and decide if its not for you not purchase it and then ***
about what it does not do. Its called research.

And for this 1080p 10000fps (joke) i have a PlayStation 4 with its bells and whistles and meant to the console to own and on personal note the colours on the one look deeper and richer and it looks better even the recently released Spideman game looks better
on the one.

By the way ive heard that from June people of the uk will get xbox live free for life if they buy a xbox one and dont like it (Joke) IN FUTURE JUST DO YOUR RESEARCH

 

I've got a Youview box and can assure you I don't have anyway to make it work with the One. I have had it plugged in to my One for months and am always checking to see if I can get TV integration setup.

Can you give us the steps required to make this work please.

How much research would you like consumers to have to do before buying a product. I saw the adverts on my 360 showing integrated TV and high def gaming. I then saw these same claims at point of sale. I then read reviews and weighed up which system I wanted
PS4 or One. This is more research than I did for my TV which cost more than twice as much! You're treating the xbox as though it is something else other than good. It is just a product like any other.

The issue of high def isn't really my main point. It is something that no doubt will be rectified in future games (see wolfenstien) But I realise that this is a sensitive subject for some fanboys so I'll leave it alone.

My main issue is that the TV integration was sorted out immediately for the US market. Yet here in the UK and Europe it has taken over six months and we have only now reached a point when it is being tested by some users. This reflects very poorly on
xbox and what they think of their European customers. And is something which has been noted by gamers over here. For Microsoft to do well in these regions I thought it would have been a good idea for Microsoft to reward us for our patience. In this way they
would improve their reputation over here and at the same time increase sales. I

 

Why not let the OP have his rant? Why the need to shoot down everyone who doesnt think teh XO is the worlds greatest machine?

I'm just curious as to what the OP thinks he should get and exactly why he thinks he should get it? I appreciate not everyone will be happy with it, no different to say buying a brand new TV only to get it home and it isn't quite what you were hoping for
but would you be asking for some sort of gift/or freebie because your not happy?
