    Hours to install a game on new Xbox one


    I purchased an Xbox One for my son. He installed the first game & it immediately started an update that took over an hour. Three games and he had to wait an hour or more to play each one. He also tried to play an EA game and it would not start. It did not
    accept our email address and he couldn't get past the log in screen. Please tell me there is a remedy for these issues. I can't understand why it would take 1 - 1.5 hours just to play one game.

    Insane Install times?

    Same exact thing here. Takes around 1-2 hours for a game to download, then between 5-12 hours for a game to install. I downloaded wwe 2k16 the other day, and it took over 10 hours for that game to install. I have the new Xbox One S... I thought install times
    were supposed to be improved?

    Purchased new Call of duty xbox one bundle tooks hours to install game.After it was done installed lords of fallen game disc normally.After that tried to install Forza Horizon 2 and Battlefield 4 and the installation would keep stopping and not installing.

    Okay for those of you who are wondering why does it take 13-15 hours sometimes to install a game on the Xbox One
    If its taking even hour to install one game from a Blu-ray disc - and assuming your not downloading an update at the same time - it won't be due to the complexity of the compression of the assets on the disc. Basically, anything more than hour
    installing purely from a disc indicates a hardware failure.

    Typically when you install an Xbox One game for the first time there will also be game update, these updates install at the same time as the disc install.

    If for example your connection speed was slow at say 2 Mbit/s and the update was 10 GB, that means that your install time will be approximately 12 hours. It doesn't matter how big the game is on disc. It will take 12 hours to install purely down to the internet
    connection speed.

    Regardless of the disc, what type of game it is, a typical offline install of an Xbox One game should take no more than 20 minutes.

    I hear Forza has a massive patch of a few gigabytes.

    This patch is downloaded during install. So install time varies depending on your internet speed.
