    So I use my phones hotspot to play games and it's not letting me connect to any online games. I know I still have hotspot data because it shows me when my friends online still and I can use the Xbox store. I don't know if it's something with my Xbox or my phone

    Technically yes, but you need to watch how much data you subscribe for. Game downloads and updates can be tens of gigabytes, and streaming and online play can both be very data intensive. Plus wi-fi hotspots are pretty good, but not 100% reliable.

    It means it's your mobile hotspot. Please turn off the mobile data then restart your device then turn it on again then start with the mobile hotspot again.
