Hotspot connection

Please try setting up a mobile hotspot connection using your phone, then connect the console to the hotspot connection. Try playing any game and see if it works fine using a hotspot connection.

To put it simply yes you can, while your performance may vary depending on how strong the upload speed is you can do it. If you are unsure how to do this I am happy to help you out!

Thank you for reaching out. For system updates, we suggest trying a standard home connection or attempting an offline system update. If you wish to try your hotspot again, you could try performing a factory reset on your Xbox while keeping your games and
apps by doing the following:

1. Press the Xbox button
   to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select All Settings.
4. Select System.
5. Select Console info & updates.
6. Select Reset console.

You can but I don't think you'll enjoy the experience, Verizon does a ton of traffic shaping on hotspot connections and I've read nothing but marginal results and issues with XBL. But try it, you might get lucky.
