Hotmail and other seemingly secure websites showing up as Unsecure

Hi there,

Is this issue only occurring when you are browsing the internet on your Xbox, or is it happening when you are browsing your PC as well? All I can think of in a case like this is that the console browser may be outdated and potentially causing this hiccup.

When you go to Hotmail.com, does it forward you to https://outlook.live.com ?

Or does it still stay at Hotmail.com?

If big sites like Hotmail, Google and the likes suddenly show up with a non-secure connection, then I'd check if there is/was an add on installed on your browser that hijacks the SSL connection to eavesdrop on it.

Or maybe a malicious software has gotten on your PC that tries to circumvent the secure connection.

Since it's possible that the malware has already installed itself into your operating system, it might be that the malware takes control of anti-virus software, and redirects anti-virus searches, as long
as the malware is running on your PC.

Therefore I recommend scanning your drive "outside" your normally running system.

You can try to download a bootable CD image with an antivirus program on it (like this here from Kaspersky). Just make sure, you download and burn the
CD on a known virus-free PC!

Or if possible, get a friend with some PC knowledge and with a trusted virus free PC, and remove the hard drive from your PC. Have your friend scan the drive for malicious software on his PC then.

It could be as simple as verifying UPnP is enabled in your router and giving it a good 30 second power cycle. Depending also on the number of Xbox’s on you network if more than one, you should check for a NAT type selection in your router setup. It may have
two options “Unsecured” & “Secured”. I have to select the unsecured type NAT in my Netgear router in order for both of my Xbox’s to show open as the NAT type. Other vendors may have this option under names.

It's no longer updated and unlikely to work on current websites it hasn't been updated for 10 years which is eons in the internet

Since the security certificates are no longer updated there is very little websites you can use if you do find one that still works I'd stay away from it because it's unsecured

A console isn't a replacement for a browser

you sure it wasn't a roommate using DLNA on his phone watching a porno and accidently sharing it with your xbox? i can send movies i stream from my phone to my xbox seemlessly it requires access to the router that the xbox or dlna tv is attached to





remeber some people download and there is trailers playing with the movie

maybe you should watch the websites you are going to like free streaming sites (porn ads do show up)

or if your network is unsecured you should secure it with a WPA password or disable sharing
