How can I host Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Server so friends can join via "Add External Server"?

    Hi folks,

New to Minecraft server hosting here. I am using the newly updated version 1.0 of Minecraft Windows 10 Edition. How can I host a Minecraft server so that friends can join via the "Add External Server" screen? The alternative I can think of is port-forwarding
to a PC running a Windows 10 Edition game, but I am thinking more of the "Realm" kind of server. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks.

How Do I Get To A Server In MINECRAFT?

minecraft server's are invite only to prevent griefing you would need to ask the host of the server to invite you.

How do you create a server in Miencraft Windows 10 edition?

There are a couple of different options that you have. Depends on what version of Minecraft you're on (Bedrock, specific platform versions, Java, etc). But you can rent a realm, or set up a server.

The benefit of a realm is that it's a third party hosting solution, so it'll be online even when you're not, and you can still control details about it, such as access lists and what not. Downside is there is a subscription cost associated with that.

The benefit of a server is that you host it locally, and have further control over it. You can also look into other non-realm third party hosts for minecraft, that will host the server for you, and allow you certain controls for it, but those also have
a cost associated to them to the third party host. The downside is that whatever computer is hosting the server would need to be online for users to connect to it. You'd still be paying for power and what not, but would not be a full subscription cost.

A few sites that I've seen that might have more specific information for you on this topic would be

this post on Realm vs Servers
    , and this
    Reddit thread, as well.

Connexion to my friend's Minecraft game impossible

    Hi there,

Are you playing on a Minecraft realm? or how is it hosted? If it's a Minecraft server like a <link removed> then there could be a problem with port forwarding..

    Try those possible solutions, please.

But I do believe it might be something to do with the identity provider.

Install the Xbox Identity Provider to enable your PC games to connect to Xbox Live. You can download the tool from Microsoft Store.
