Horror Ads on my Xbox 360/Xbox One

Ever since I got an Xbox 360/Xbox one I have always been bugged by the fact that I don't really have a choice over what ads show up on my dashboard. The most recent offender is the new Paranormal activity ad, which shows a guy with a hole where his one
eye should be, and I find these ads disturbing. Is there any way that I can get rid of these ads on my Xbox? I really like Xbox and I play quite a bit, but it seems like if I try to restrict the settings to not show content over a certain age it will also
restrict my games (I play a lot of M rated games). Any information as to how I can solve this issue would be appreciated

Smh! Xbox one is not looking good world wide!

When it comes to the ads, not much really changes for the worse.

- you have ads now on the Xbox 360 & you'll have ads on the Xbox One. No change.

- ads on the Xbox 360 can use the Kinect & so can Xbox One ads. No change.

- specific ads will target you based on what the Kinect sees. Good or bad? You decide.

Ads on the 360 are small and unobtrusive in my opinion so if there's ads at the same level on the one I don't care

 

If there is a solution that disables movie ads that would also be acceptable, since I mainly use the consoles for gaming. Any help is appreciated

 

I'm don't believe you can turn off ads at all. Most people tried already.

This is for Xbox 360, there are no similar start up options for Xbox One that I know of.

To choose what starts when you turn on your console

1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select
   System Settings.
2. Select Console Settings.
3. Select Startup and Shutdown.
4. Select Startup.
5. Select from the following startup options:
   
   • Disc
     
     Select Disc if you want the disc in your console to automatically play when you turn on the console.
     
   • Xbox Dashboard
     
     Select Xbox Dashboard if you want the dashboard to display when you turn on the console.
     
   • Windows Media Center
     
     Select Windows Media Center if you want Windows Media Center to start when you turn on your console.
     

 

Surprised that the Ambassador didn't know this.

Go to your dashboard and then to Settings, Pick Privacy.

Now chose Change Settings and then Customise.

Scroll down until you reach Filtering and choose that.

In this section you can pick between Standard and Family. The latter of which will only display family friendly advertising.

Save the setting and restart your console. Any M rated stuff should now be banished and your ability to play mature games should not be affected.
