  1. Horrendous frame rate across several backwards compatible titles

Is anything being done about this? There are many people experiencing this, but I cannot seem to find any comments from Xbox regarding this. Here is what's happening:

Ever since the last update, two and half weeks ago, every single backwards compatible game I have played (along with my friends) has experienced sudden frame rate drops that have essentially rendered the game unplayable. When this happens, gameplay comes
to a complete stand still. One frame per second, sometimes even longer! The ONLY option you have is to immediately quit out of the game and perform either a 1) Hard reset of the console, or 2) Clear the Xbox 360 Saved Data from the console (which essentially
    hard resets the console anyway).

Upon doing this, you can re-launch the 360 game and play it, typically for 1-2 hours before the problem arises again. Or, if you restart that game a second time (after a hard reset of the console), the horrible frame rate issue will resurface, only to be
temporarily fixed by another hard reset. It appears that a hard reset of the console must be performed for every 1-2 hours of gameplay (on average).

From the info I have gathered, here is a list of games this issue is effecting (but probably not limited to): Left 4 Dead 1 and 2. Red Dead Redemption, Halo Wars, Portal 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Witcher 2, and Perfect Dark. My experience has been primarily
with Left 4 Dead 1 and 2. I play more of L4D2 and it is absolutely abysmal. Games tend to last for an hour or so, so I can barely make it through one game before this frame rate issue occurs. Once it happens, it is impossible to continue.

Deleting and reinstalling the game has no effect. Switching from external to internal has no effect. It seems like this is caused by the saved data or some sort of caching issue with the BC games. Basically, whatever they did in that last update has completely
ruined BC games for my friends and I (and apparently other's too).

    :)

Lol you're complaining about the shadows? What about the horrendous frame rate? The game plays at 10 frames per second when you're in a fire fight and its very frustrating. The frame rate literally always stuttering.

Xbox 360 backward frame rate is really bad

Why the frame rate is really bad ?
I try to play Halo reach and the frame rate is HORRIBLE.
    but not only halo reach
Further games backward compatible like the gears of war trilogy have serious problem of frame rate
sometimes also it goes below 20 fps.
They did beta testing before publishing it all ?
in the summer when I got the beta
gow1 he not had all that drop frame that now .
    Why? Come on fix it.

  4. Horrendous frame rate across several backwards compatible titles

are you in the preview program? if so report the problem through the app, if not the new operating system will be arriving soon as there have been updates every couple days, i had an issue with the disc reader and it was fixed in the next update

  5. Yeah, I'm in the Preview Program and have reported it through the feedback app. But, I don't think it's a Preview issue, since the issue started after the main update for all users. I have a few friends who are not in the Preview Program and they are experiencing
the frame drops as well. I guess I'll just wait and hope that they are addressing this in a future update. Thanks for the reply!

I'm having a terrible frame rate problem with Left 4 Dead 2 on the new XB1"S" system! Worked fine on my old system and maybe it's the new system update but 90% of the time the frame rate drops to unplayable levels during gameplay. I'm using the digital
    version of the game.

Currently playing Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon via backwards compatibility and you're right, after about an hour or so my game has catastrophic frame rate dips and it stays there. I'm guessing about 15fps...ish. It doesn't sort itself out, the game is not under
load, it's just massively broken. I have to hard reset my console. It's a shame; it's a good job my 360 is still plugged in next to it, i have to finish my achievements on that machine instead.

I too am part of the preview program.

Horrendous frame rate across several backwards compatible titles

Wow. For the last 2 weeks I thought this was just me..

I have been using backwards compatibility on the Xbox One for many months on the vanilla console. Halo Wars used to run perfectly even during long gaming stretches. As of about 2 - 3 weeks ago the performance severely degraded. It seems to occur within
1 to 4 hours of gameplay. Once the issue happens it effects ALL games running through the 360 emulator until the console is either hard reset or the 360 data is cleared. I also have an external drive and have tried moving the game from one drive to another,
re-downloading, etc.,, but this has not resolved the problem. I am currently playing the Witcher 2 and you can clearly see when the issue is about to occur. The game tries to save and an hourglass appears in the bottom right of the screen. Then the performance
drops and the "saving" image begins flickering. It is like the IO to the hard drive has been impacted and the game can no longer read/write effectively. I can exit the 360 game and continue playing a normal Xbox One game without any issue. Going back
to the 360 system immediately restarts the problem until a hard reset.

I was hoping the system update 2 days ago would fix this issue but it occurred again last night. I am not on the preview program. As of right now the back compatibility function is severely broken. This issue also is not related to other complaints about
"slow" framerates in general for 360 titles. This is not simply slow performance but a constant stuttering freeze that makes the game unplayable.

    Hey everyone!

Could each of you please be sure to try the following steps? If the following steps do not resolve the issue, please post back with each of the games you're experiencing and, more importantly, fill out our
Back Compat Survey detailing the issue so that this information is passed directly to the Back Compat team. I understand some of you may have already performed these steps, but I want to make sure
we're all on the same page!

    1. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.

    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select All settings.
    4. Select System.
    5. Select Storage, and then select Clear local Xbox 360 storage. After this, your Xbox One console will restart.
    6. Play the games as normal and note if the issue continues.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, the next step will be to
    Factory Restore your Xbox One
. Be sure to select 'Reset and keep my games & apps'.

If the issue continues, please post back with the games you notice this occur in and confirming that you have completed the survey I linked above.

    Thanks everyone!

I don't use the cloud, so this will permanently delete all game saves/profiles for anyone who doesn't

  12. Mr. Beep,

This works, but unfortunately it is only temporary. The second time you play the game after completing these steps, the issue resurfaces. I have given feedback in the survey. The game for me that is effected the most is Left 4 Dead 2. Thank you.

    Hey all,

If you're continuing to experience frame drop issues, definitely be sure to fill out the survey mentioned in this thread, but just in case please also post back with this information to help us narrow down the issue further:

    • Games this issue occurs in:
    • Is the game (or games) that this issue occurs in installed internally or on an external HDD?:
    • Is your Xbox One console set to 'Instant-on' or 'Energy saver'?:
    • Do you own an Xbox One or an Xbox One S?:
    • On average, how long does it take until the issue is noticeable?:
    Thanks everyone!
