Horizon 4 from game pass wont launch

Hello. Ive recently installed forza horizon 4 from the game pass. Once it installed it wouldnt launch and said i needed to update my system, so i did. I then went to launch the game again and this time it said the game needed to update.. So i let it, now
its saying i need to do an offline system update where i have to fanncy about with a usb stick and .zip files. I do not have a pc. Can i seriously not play this game without doing all of this? Error#800701E7.

Paul from the Xbox Forums Team here to assist with the issue, it looks like you're unable to launch Forza Horizon 4 due to a system update being required. It's unfortunate that you don't have a PC but I do recommend performing the offline system update if
possible. There are a few options available to perform the offline system update. You could try going to the local library, family members
house, friends or even a local Microsoft store if one is near you. If you're unable to perform the offline system update then the best solution would be to

There are a few steps you can take that thankfully should help resolve the issue for you. First I would perform a full shut down and reboot of both your console as well as modem / router. If this doesn't resolve the issue, please delete and reinstall the
game as this should help resolve the issue. If the issue persists please let us know and we can go from there!

 

Hello again. I followed the steps and extracted the files onto a hard drive. Ive formatted it yet when i bring up the troubleshoot screen, the "offline system update" option isnt illuminated. Any ideas?

 

Here's 2 things to double-check: -

1. Make sure the USB stick is formatted to NTFS, not FAT32 or any other file format.

2. Make sure that you have copied over the entire $SystemUpdate folder that's inside the OSU1.zip file that you downloaded, not just the files that are inside the $SystemUpdate folder.

As long as the USB stick is formatted to NTFS and the $SystemUpdate folder is present on the root of the drive, when it's plugged into a USB port on your console the "Offline system update" option should light up.

 

Hello again. Double checked everything you stated and tried it with multiple devices, nothing is making the option to offline update illuminate. Tried all 3 usb ports too but nothing. Is my xbox faulty?

 

If you're 100% sure the USB stick was prepared correctly, you've tried different sticks, and you've tried all of the console's USB ports, then it could be a hardware issue.

Is the console still under warranty?

If you have followed all of the above steps above and the option is still not illuminating, then I suggest to try one more time with another compatible USB drive to rule that out before a service request for your Xbox is recommended.
