Hooking Xbox One to Computer

Am i able to hook up my xbox one to my computer and play on it instead of a tv? If so can someone please help me.

Is the audio set to surround sound over optical? At this point the only supported optical SS signal is not supported by alot of DACs, including the Astro A40 Mixamp.

Hooking up Xbox One to computer monitor

I'm trying to hook up my xbox one to my computer monitor, which has only vga and dvi ports. I have an hdmi to dvi converter cable hooked up and can see the xbox one picture fine on the computer monitor but am having trouble with sound. I know dvi does not
carry sound but I have an optical audio cable, digital-to-analog audio adapter, and rca y-cable that hooks up to the converter (items all obtained through advice of others) but cannot figure out how to get sound to play. I have headphones and computer speakers,
help would be greatly appreciated.

do you have a PC screen with HDMI input? if so then you can

there are 3rd party adapters that you can use but i am not sure if they will work properly.

You won't be able to hook it up directly to your computer, but you may be able to use it with it's monitor as Drabz indicated. It would need to have an HDMI input or you will have to buy a converter. There are several HDMI to VGA or DVI converters out there,
but be careful not to just buy a cable as that will not work in most cases. You will need an active converter (at least for VGA) that is powered (either by AC adapter or USB) to convert the digital signal to analog VGA - Cable Matters makes one which is sold
on Amazon and that is what I use with my projector. The only drawbacks are it doesn't carry the audio signal (have to use optical for audio, which was my preference anyway) and the Blu-Ray/DVD player blocks movie content due to the copyright protections built
into HDMI - but Amazon Instant Video and Hulu work fine.

coud you put a spliter on the hdmi cable betweenxbox1x and computer,. or hook the xbox to computer

I find it much easier to put music files on a flash drive and plug it into the One. (also works with pictures or video files)
