    Hooking up XBox One S to surround Sound


    My audio receiver is from Pioneer. We purchased it back in 2008. I was able to obtain surround sound on my XBox 360 by inserting the cables to the traditional red and yellow audio ports, and then set the channel on Video.

    I have been unable to do this with my XBox One; I have to utilize sound through the TV, which is generally ok except listening to movie dialog.

    I went to first GameStop and then Best Buy and was suggested to try a Digital Optical cable. I inserted the cable into the S/PDIF port on the XBox and the Digital In port on the receiver. It didn't work. I tried to adjust the various settings as suggested
    in the Help section, but to no avail; about all I managed to do is remove the 4K option from the video settings.

    Any suggestions or instructions on how to get this set up?

    Hooking up Xbox One

    I was wondering if anyone else was having issues with hooking up Xbox One to Surround Sound and Cable box. I seem to be not able to have it all hooked up. Anyone with suggestions? I used to have xbox 360 and cable box plugged into surround sound receiver
    then hdmi from surround sound to tv everything worked fine. Any help would be great.

    I have my xbox set up using hdmi out and sending the sound through my 5.1 speakers just using the red and white cable to the sound system inputs. Doesn't that work for you? I had to use the special adapter though; "Microsoft Xbox 360 HDMI AV Cable"

    Use the HDMI from the Xbox to the TV but the TV should also have a set of output jacks for your surround sound.
