Hooking my xbox one to my home computer

Hi all. I would like to join my home compter up to my xbox one. Is this possible ? would that then mean that i could access the music files i have on my harddrive? Also would it mean that i could also access my photos that i have stored on my hard drive?
The units are seperated in different rooms. The xbox one is in the loungeroom and the comouter sits in the dining room.

Hooking Xbox One to Computer

You won't be able to hook it up directly to your computer, but you may be able to use it with it's monitor as Drabz indicated. It would need to have an HDMI input or you will have to buy a converter. There are several HDMI to VGA or DVI converters out there,
but be careful not to just buy a cable as that will not work in most cases. You will need an active converter (at least for VGA) that is powered (either by AC adapter or USB) to convert the digital signal to analog VGA - Cable Matters makes one which is sold
on Amazon and that is what I use with my projector. The only drawbacks are it doesn't carry the audio signal (have to use optical for audio, which was my preference anyway) and the Blu-Ray/DVD player blocks movie content due to the copyright protections built
into HDMI - but Amazon Instant Video and Hulu work fine.

do you have a PC screen with HDMI input? if so then you can

there are 3rd party adapters that you can use but i am not sure if they will work properly.

 

I find it much easier to put music files on a flash drive and plug it into the One. (also works with pictures or video files)
