Homefront: the revolution

The beacon thing was just some weird terminology the game used for network connections if I remember rightly.

Trying to join games or party up with people would chuck out an error saying "failed to create beacon" (or something like that)

.

Of course, I could be remembering this all wrong, in which case, just wheel me out to the retirement home ;-)

as Metal said i believe it created a 'beacon' which associated with where you were on the servers so friends could join if they wanted to - really enjoyed it until it broke!

 

I think it was down mostly to server load. I got the game pretty early and as it got closer to the launch it gradually got worse, even the night before it came out online play was fairly solid.

Bit of a bummer really cos people were asking me what it was like and I was being very positive, made me look pretty stupid when it actually launched.

 

Lol! I have had that on me too with a few games! Omg the game is just amazing (then you find a game break lol).

Thanks though guys. Hopefully the sequel delivers the quality the first one did and holds the quality in place.

 

Kinda worried about this now, given the current state of affairs over at Crytek

I actually enjoyed the first. For the campaign anyway. My first multiplayer game was awesome. Ran into an old forum regular for the first time and blew him away!

 

You ran into a forum regular by accident on that game? That's pretty cool!!

As for Cyrtek, whats going on with them? Are they in trouble?

Man the Homefront IP is cursed. Apparently the people at Crytek UK working on this still haven't been paid so they've stopped going to work. I can see them going under real soon unless someone buys them out.

Wow if that's true then this just sucks. Are we at a point were developing costs that much time and resource that its a risk to make a great game if you are not making games every other year to keep the money boat afloat? How do these companies keep running
out of money

It's sad when a company gets into trouble. I can't remember the last time I brought a Crytek game, but I was very much looking forward to Homefront 2. Well, I still am if it ever hits our Xbox One.

 

Enjoyed the mulitplayer on the first one the single player was pretty dire though...

I will be picking this up once it drops.

 

Same here guys. I'll be snapping this one up. It kind of reminds me of Warriors (that 80's / 70's movie) with a mixture of Escape from L.A.

Hopefully like Bluez says, it hits our Xbox One's.

It's just upsetting to see so many companies go down the pan.
