Home Xbox question

I was unaware, until recently, that you could only switch your home console 3 times a year. Which is fine with me but I have switched mine back and forth with my son's xbox one a few too many times and now I'm stuck on his xbox. My fault for not knowing
that was the deal but my question is what does the "3 times a year" consist of? Is it a year from when u did it last or first or just each year? Anyone know? Just trying to determine when I can switch again. Lesson learned.

Not sure I understand but here is the low down...
Your xbox should be his HOME xbox
His xbox should be your HOME xbox.

Anything you guy under your GT YOU will own...even though you xbox is his home xbox....

Edit:
To be even clearer.....

YOU log into HIS xbox go to settings and make it your HOME xbox
HE logs into YOUR xbox go to settings and make it his HOME xbox

how long do I have to wait to use the "make my home xbox" option again on the Xbox one? Is it the same 4 month wait like 360's license transfer till I can use that option again?

The 12 month timer starts after the first time you designate a home console. I hope a good chunk of time has already passed for you!

 

Thanks for the reply! Do u know if there is somewhere or way we can see when that date that we first switched was? To be honest I have no clue when we first did it. I really didn't have any problem with it until I got word the dashboard preview people would
get the Halo 5 beta. Mine is the preview while my son's isn't. All my games go with my gamertag but the preview is only for my console and I cannot access it anywhere else. And just to clarify, this isn't a complaint of any kind. I love Xbox and my One!
