home xbox problems and gamesharing problems

hello im trying to gameshare with my friend and we have had some trouble getting it to work. I have gameshared before with my cousin and we stopped because he found someone else too gameshare with. Everything was working just fine with my friend until he
got a pop up saying he can only set a home xbox 3 times a year when he tried to set my account as his home xbox. It worked just fine on my end but we had no idea about the 3 times a year thing... I was wondering if there was any way at all he can reset his
counter to 0 so we can get it to work. I found a forum this morning about this same situation and xbox support has to "hard reset" his gamertag or something like that. I am really worried about this not working and I really hope that someone can reset his
counter. (btw this is my first time posting in the forums and I don't know if im in the right place.)

Gameshare question

I know that when you gameshare with someone you make their account your home Xbox. But what if I want to Gameshare with two friends? Would I have to keep switching their accounts as home back and forth?

Home Xbox Problems

Hi there,

There is no "bypass". There is a 3 per year limit to the amount of times you can change your Home Xbox.

You could try contacting phone or chat support directly to see if they can reset it, but you will likely have to wait for a year to pass before you can change it again.

I am sorry to hear about what happened but that is indeed correct that we can only do the home xbox using an account on an xbox one console 3 times per year only. I would suggest to contact our Xbox Chat/Phone support and see if they will be able to reset
it on their end.

I tried it, but i still have the same problem, does the guy im gamesharing with have to make my xbox his home xbox?

My brother and his xbox doesnt live with me. So he will have his xbox set to home, while i will have my xbox one s downstairs set to home, everything fine.

That would mean you are not sharing any games with each other. You would have to set his console as your Home in order to share and he would have to set one of your consoles to his Home in order to share. Any games you purchase on your account can be playing
on any console as long as you are signed into Live. Any games your brother bought you can only play on his Home console.

I don't know if the number is quite that high, but I know a lot of people do it. Still doesn't mean they're allowed to. The Home setting is ultimately meant for you to set your own console as your Home so if people are using your console, they can access your stuff without you needing to be signed in, and for you to be able to access your stuff in the event you can't sign in (ie. a Live outage or internet outage).

Besides the risk of being banned, it's also just stupid to give your account information to anyone else, no matter if you think they're a "close" friend or not. A lot of people have gotten screwed out of their account because their friend got mad and signed into their account and did something on purpose to get the account banned. Or that "friend" gets mad and signed in and changes login/account information and then the user complains about being hacked. Or the "friend" signs into their account, spends a ton of their money buying games as gifts and sends them to themselves.
